Manishi Bajaj

Make up is an art form every woman needs to learn while growing up. From the bright pink lip gloss of early teenage years to the exquisitely drawn winged eyeliners that might take an inordinate amount of time to get right; a woman goes through the stages of being her own makeup artist. She finally emerges at the pinnacle, having mastered the ‘look’ but only after various hits and trials.  Every woman who has gone through all this would appreciate the effort and time that goes into getting it just right. To make your life easier; we have compiled a list of makeup hacks that will have you looking better than ever, with only a fraction of the effort.

HACK I: Apply baby powder in between coating of mascara for fuller looking lashes.

Use a Q-tip to disperse baby powder on your lashes, between applying each coat of mascara. The mascara will stick to the powder to give you plump lashes with the final coat. VoilĂ ! You don’t need fake lashes anymore!

HACK II: Hold a card behind your lashes before applying mascara to avoid a smear.

Use an old business card or paper you have cut out, put it behind your lashes and then apply mascara. Especially on the bottom lashes, it will save your makeup from mascara smudges.

HACK III: Dusting translucent powder over your lipstick with the help of a tissue will make it last longer.

Use your favorite lip color then put a tissue over your mouth and apply translucent powder over it. It will give you a long-lasting color.

HACK IV: Stick your finger in your mouth to avoid getting lipstick on your teeth.

There is nothing more unattractive than getting lipstick on your teeth. You can also use a Q-tip to swap around the excess lipstick from the inside of your lips. That way your lipstick will stay only where it’s supposed to be.

HACK V: Make a triangle to conceal your dark circles instead of highly used dotting.

Instead of making dots in a semicircle, apply concealed in a triangular way coming from corner of your eyes. This is the best way to hide your dark circles, redness under the eye or any other spots. It creates a flat canvas on the skin to bring out cheekbones while contouring.

HACK VI: Make that eye shadow pop by masking your eyelid with white eyeliner.

For your eye shadow to look brighter and vibrant, use white eyeliner or cream eye shadow as base. Apply it all over your lid up to the brow and blend it properly with a darker shade to bring out the best color.

HACK VII: Get glossy lips with a pinch of shimmer eye shadow without actually using a lip gloss.

If you are not a fan of your hair sticking to your lip gloss, then use shimmery eye shadow in the middle of your lips to give it a fuller look. Color your lips with your favorite lipstick and with the help of your finger or a Q-tip, take a little bit of shimmer eye shadow and apply it right in the middle of your bottom lip and on the top. This one comes as a tested trick by Bruce Grayson, the official makeup artist of the Oscars.

HACK VIII: Blow dry your hair upside down to avoid frizz and more volume.

Give your hair that extra lift by drying your hair downwards. Working on the roots with the blow dryer will give your hair that extra volume they need.

HACK IX: Save on Blush.

What if we tell you that make up and money saving can be teamed up? Save the money on blush by substituting it with a lipstick. Blend it on your cheeks with some moisturizer for better coverage.

HACK X: Right Spots Make That Scent Last

Apply your favorite perfume on the base of your throat, behind your ears, inside your wrists and elbows, and behind your knees. Spray some on your hairbrush and comb your hair with it to leave a sweet scent everywhere you move through the day.
